The Port of Portland's first shipment of grain in more than two and a half years will leave the port within the month.
Grain hasn't left the western Victorian port for almost three years after tough cropping seasons.
Port of Portland business development manager Peter Gracias is expecting grain throughput of 250,000 tonnes, making up 7 to 8 per cent of the volumes that leave the port.
"We prided ourselves on grain being one of our major exports, and after not seeing any grain through the port for the last three years, it's a welcome sight to see grain coming to the port again," he says.
"We hope that the volumes only continue to grow in the years ahead."
