Australia's largest pomegranate farm is currently being developed in South Australia's Mallee.
The family business located at Wanbi has acquired a underground water licence to irrigate 300 hectares of pomegranates, destined for the export market.
Director for Pomegranates Australia, Malcolm Lewis, says despite turbulent economic and climatic conditions, he's confident there's enough worldwide demand for his fruit.
"There's already a very established market throughout Europe, the USA and the highly developed parts of Asia," he says.
"It's been a staple food for many of those countries for thousands of years and it's very well accepted."
