Premier Anna Bligh says she has asked for Queensland to be included on US President Barack Obama's itinerary when he visits Australia next month.
Bill Clinton holidayed at Port Douglas in far north Queensland when he was president in 1996.
Ms Bligh says she is keen for another presidential visit and has asked Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to do what he can to help.
"I'm very pleased that Barack Obama will be visiting Australia," she said.
"He's a very interesting world political figure.
"I'd be keen to get him to Queensland [and] I've already written to the Prime Minister this morning encouraging him to include Queensland on the President's itinerary.
"What's a visit to Australia without a visit to Queensland?"
